RealTime-PCR

We offer to perform conventional and RealTime PCR to detect target sequences and to monitor and quantify the activity of certain genes.
DNA and RNA are routinely isolated using Qiagen's QiaAmp DNA and RNeasy Kits, respectively. Optional, other nucleic acid isolation methods can be performed by request.
Specific primer for special targets can be designed in-house, or TaqMan^® gene expression assays from Applied Biosystems - available for nearly all human and mouse genes - will be used.

Human-specific PCR

The sensitive detection of human cells in immunodeficient mice is a prerequisite for the monitoring of micrometastasis of solid tumours, dissemination of leukaemic cells, or engraftment of haematological cells. Therefore we developed an universally applicable PCR method for the detection of a human-specific fragment of the -satellite DNA on human chromosome 17 (Becker 2002 ).
