Animals and animal facilities

EPO-GmbH has approved animal facilities for the maintenance of rodents under barrier and germ-free conditions.

Immunocompetent mice and rats are purchased from licenced breeders in specific-pathogen-free quality. For nude mice an in-house breeding exists.

The following immunodeficient mice are used for xenotransplantation experiments with human normal and malignant material (stem cells, tumours):
