Vita Dr. rer. nat. Christian Nowak

Study of biology at the Humboldt University of Berlin. He got the Diploma in Biology (Biochemistry in Medicine) 1970.

1970:

Scientist in the group Experimental Metastasis at the German Academy of Science (ADW) in Berlin Buch.

1970 – 1975:

PhD work on “Metastasis of chemically induced rat mammary carcinoma” at the Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ADW) under the supervision of the highly acclaimed Professor Dr. Arnold Graffi.

1985 – 1991:

Deputy Leader of the Dept. of Experimental Pharmacology and Oncology at the Central Institute for Cancer Research (ADW).

1992 – 1993:

Head of the Research Group Experimental Photodynamic Therapy and Diagnostic at the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC).

1994 – 1996:

Robert-Rössle-Hospital, Division of Surgery and Surgical Oncology.

1997:

Founder and CEO of the EPO-GmbH as a start-up of the MDC.

Research areas: Mechanisms and prevention of metastasis of tumours, development of experimental syngeneic and xenogeneic tumour models in mice, mathematical modelling methods in animal experiments, screening of anticancer agents, combinations and immunomodulators; time-resolved, laser-induced fluorescence of exogeneic and endogeneic chromophores as tool for cancer diagnosis and therapy.

Dr. Christian Nowak has published more than 50 scientific papers.
